The body (Biology) as mediated through one's mind (Psychology) in conjunction with other people (Sociology) are all embedded in and inextricably dependent upon the Ecology of the planet Earth. Obviously, personal survival and the quality of your living and the potential for enhancement, all, depend on a proper fit with the planet's environment. We are confronted with many big issues: population control and down-regulation, resource management, mitigating our negative impact on the balance of ecological parameters, among others. Much of this involves business and political engagements - indeed, new economic and political principles and institutions need to be invented. A good maxim is "think globally and act locally". What you do in your daily work, how you engage in the political process, the products which you consume, how you spend your time with education and entertainment, your family and associations, where you live, etc., help determine how you fit with the ecology, and they are within your more immediate control. And to the extent that you direct that personal, micro interface, you influence the direction of the larger, more remote systems. The idea is the make adaptation a challenge that is fun, interesting, intellectually rewarding, and advantageous. Those will be some of the considerations that are the subject of Chapter V of the Manual. | ||
